Bokeh Christmas image

No snow for Christmas proper in Beaverton, so I experimented with bokeh (defocused) images. Kelly Jackson made the Christmas card! I also used my Surefire flashlight (Christmas present from daughter.01 Adrienne) to illuminate the card, focusing in on King, the reason for the season.

24 F outside. Ice pellets (new technical weatherman words for sleet) fall near dawn, leaving a thin layer of ice all over 6" of fresh powder. Winter wonderland in Portland and most points North!

My last view of Cedar Breaks, sunset the day before we left. This is a panorama image, taken in 20 degree F cold with 20-30 MPH winds (I was standing at 10,000 feet at the Grand Viewpoint.)

At Mesa Verde Cliff Palace View, there are at least 4 cliff dwellings visible in this pan.

Arches, Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, Mesa Verde, Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon parks seen so far (only Zion and Yosemite are left.)
The scenery is so HUGE that I've been taking lots of panoramas. Here are some (first one is not a pan, a 10mm image of us in 4 states at once at 4 Corners.)

Moose Falls, Yellowstone NP

One more post for today. This falls is a gem, located near the South entrance to Yellowstone.

Note the blue sky behind the trees. I was shooting with a Moose (hah!) Polarizer/warming filter and an ND4 Cokin filter, and a cloud just passed over the falls so I could take it in subdued light.

I can't believe how long it's been since I set this blog up! Anyway, I have a photo from earlier this year for consideration--Multnomah Falls at 28F and 11:45PM! Lots of PSE work to bring out the ice (which was mostly illuminated by Sodium-vapor lamps.)
